About me
Oscar Sarre is an Australian composer for film and theatre, pianist, and sound designer based in Adelaide, South Australia. Oscar has completed a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance) at the acclaimed James Morrison Academy of Music and a Diploma in Music Production at the Australian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Victoria.
Oscar has a deep love and appreciation for film. He was raised on films like The Sound of Music (1965), The Parent Trap (1998) and The Princess Diaries (2001), all of which remain some of his favourite movies and scores to this day. Oscar appreciates the big, sweeping orchestral scores of these films but is also interested in more modern and electronic sounding scores, such as the scores for Challengers (2024) and The Substance (2024).
Oscar has scored music for numerous short films and theatre productions and has been recognized by Australian jazz legend James Morrison for his excellence in musical composition. In 2017, Oscar was awarded Best Original Score for his work on the film Key Silence for the 48-hour film project Adelaide.
Oscar has also worked with the CRAM Collective, composing original music for their theatre show New World Coming (2021), and their short films Disco Milk (2022) and Rory (2023).
In 2024, Oscar composed the score for This is Fine., which won Best Film at the 48 Hour Film Project Adelaide. The film went on to win 3rd Best Film at Filmapalooza in Seattle and was subsequently screened at the Short Film Corner in Cannes in 2025.
As well as his work in film, Oscar has also worked extensively with Deadset Theatre Company, composing music and creating sound design for their productions of Ravaged (2025), Nothing But The Servo (2024), Romeo and Juliet (2024), Girl Shut Your Mouth (2023), Puberty Blues (2022) and Truckstop (2021).
In 2025 Oscar composed the original score for the short film Hypothetically, the End, which will be screening at the Hollyshorts Film Festival and Heartland Film Festival later this year.
Oscar is looking forward to broadening his composing palette in the future and is excited to work with more directors and makers of art to create impactful film and theatre.
